Zapper Recurring Payments UX

About the project

Zapper set out to introduce a seamless recurring payments capability, allowing users to automate repeat transactions such as subscriptions, memberships, instalments, and donation cycles. The goal was to design a flow that felt effortless on the user side while maintaining full transparency, trust, and control over ongoing payments.

As the UX Designer, I stepped into a space with many moving parts. I worked with Zapper’s internal designer, You_Source’s CEO and the development team to understand how the business wanted this feature to behave and what users needed in order to feel confident about letting a payment run automatically.

From there I shaped the entire journey. I mapped out how someone would choose their payment cycle, how they would confirm their billing details and how they would see exactly what they were agreeing to. I put a lot of focus on the management side too because users must be able to pause or cancel a recurring payment without stress or confusion. Every screen had to reinforce trust and predictability.

By the time the work was complete, we had a clear and intuitive flow that fitted naturally into Zapper’s existing ecosystem. Even though the feature was never launched due to a shift on the client’s side, the process showed my ability to navigate a complex environment, work across teams and deliver a polished and scalable solution.

This case study showcases my process from research and problem definition to wireframing and prototyping, demonstrating how thoughtful design decisions can create a smoother, more user-centred experience.
