Yebo Fresh - UX Design Case Study

About the project

Yebo Fresh is a township-focused eCommerce and logistics company that supplies groceries and essential goods to communities and informal traders.

I worked with Yebo Fresh to design a digital platform that equips local informal retailers with a simple and reliable way to order stock directly from wholesalers through their mobile devices. The goal was to reduce the friction traditionally involved in restocking small community shops and ensure a fast, dependable supply chain experience.

I led the end-to-end UX and UI design process for the Yebo Fresh Ordering Platform, covering the fullcycle from understanding inventory workflows to shaping the sales and fulfilment experience. from understanding inventory workflows to shaping the sales and fulfilment experience. My responsibilities spanned user research, translating operational processes into streamlined digital flows, designing all interfaces and validating the product with stakeholders and real shop owners. Icollaborated closely with product owners, engineers and stakeholder teams to ensure every touchpoint from product browsing to order placement, picking, packing and delivery, was intuitive and aligned with therealities of township retail.

End-to-end contributions

• Discovery & Research: Conducted stakeholder interviews and workflow observations to understand data, pain points and user needs across teams.
• Information Architecture Designed a clear structure alongside with stakeholders for categorising and accessing product information efficiently.
• User Flows & Wireframes: Mapped out CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) and validation workflows to simplify data entry and review, with iterative refinements based on feedback.
• UI Design: Built high-fidelity screens with a focus on visual hierarchy, data density and clean readability, with collaborations with the senior dev to map out dev requirements for pixel perfection.
• Design System: Created a reusable component library for consistent interface patterns and faster future iterations.
• Prototyping & Testing: Developed interactive prototypes and ran feedback sessions with internal teams to validate usability and comprehension.
• Developer Handoff: Collaborated closely with developers to ensure smooth implementation of design specifications and interaction logic.
